Solar Entertainment Group (“SEG”) was formed by Romanian businessman and filmmaker, Bobby Paunescu, and former Comerica Entertainment Group executive, Jared Underwood. Among its investors and strategic partners are: Edward Lawson Johnston, founder of the London-based merchant bank LJ Group; the New York-based Shu family, with major holdings in real estate and energy in the U.S. SEG was established as a single platform to integrate content creation and entertainment finance. Our core strategy is to build significant enterprise value through breadth of operations and scale, resulting in a unique combination of complementary products and services across a broad array of disciplines. Through Solar Pictures, SEG operates film production studios and is a producer, acquirer and seller of filmed content. Through Solar Media Capital and Solar Entertainment HLB, SEG lends, invests, advises and raises capital for third parties across a range of entertainment related financing opportunities. Through Solar East, SEG co-produces films with China Film Group and operates physical production studios in Bucharest.
